Galileo was born on February 15, 1564, in Pisa, Tuscany, Italy. And died January 8, 1642, in Arcetri, near Florence. His Father Vincenzo Galilei, was a lutenist, composer, and music theorist, and his mother Giulia Ammannati.
Galileo Galilei was an Italian scientist who formulated the basic law of falling bodies, which he verified by careful measurements. Galileo was a natural philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician who made fundamental contributions to the sciences of motion, astronomy, and the strength of materials and the development of the scientific method. He also made revolutionary telescopic discoveries, including the four largest moons of Jupiter. He began to study medicine at the University of Pisa but changed to philosophy and mathematics. In 1589, he became a professor of mathematics at Pisa. In 1592, he moved to become a mathematics professor at the University of Padua, a position he held until 1610. During this time he worked on a variety of experiments, including the speed at which different objects fall, mechanics, and pendulums.
