Brain teasers are puzzles or problems that involve mathematical concepts and require creative thinking, logical reasoning, and sometimes a bit of trial and error to solve. They are often designed to challenge your problem-solving skills and sometimes involve unconventional or tricky scenarios. Here are a few examples of math brain teasers across different difficulty levels:
A magic square is defined by having the same sum for each row, column, and diagonal.
Let’s calculate the sums:
- Sum of each row:
First row: 14+7+12=3314 + 7 + 12 = 3314+7+12=33
Second row: 9+11+13=339 + 11 + 13 = 339+11+13=33
Third row: 10+15+8=3310 + 15 + 8 = 3310+15+8=33
- Sum of each column:
First column: 14+9+10=3314 + 9 + 10 = 3314+9+10=33
Second column: 7+11+15=337 + 11 + 15 = 337+11+15=33
Third column: 12+13+8=3312 + 13 + 8 = 3312+13+8=33
- Sum of each diagonal:
Main diagonal (top-left to bottom-right): 14+11+8=3314 + 11 + 8 = 3314+11+8=33
Secondary diagonal (top-right to bottom-left): 12+11+10=3312 + 11 + 10 = 3312+11+10=33
Since all the sums of the rows, columns, and diagonals are equal to 33, this 3×3 grid indeed forms a magic square. Therefore, the grid is a valid 3×3 magic square where each row, each column, and both main diagonals sum up to 33
